Descriptions of volunteer jobs

Bike Parking Free Guarded Bicycle Parking Volunteers will help check-in and check-out bicycles for festival goers.
Bucket Brigade Spend your volunteer time near the Music Stages! Provide the opportunity for festival goers to support the festival with a donation as you pass through the crowd. Last year we raised over $22,000!
Buddy Greet and orient performers to festival site and East Lansing. Help transport performers from Marriott to performance stages.
Children's Area Facilitate children’s activities (games crafts and performances) by assisting and encouraging children’s participation, Assist with visitor questions and safety.
Floater Act as a fill-in at sites that need assistance during the festival.
Folk Arts Marketplace Work in the Folk Arts Marketplace (craft vending area) Provide general assistance and serve as booth sitters.
Green Room Staff the Green Room where food and beverages are provided for performers, volunteers and staff.
In House Volunteer Assist GLFF staff in preparing printed materials prior to the festival. We also need on-call office help during the last few weeks before the festival.
Information Booth Provide information to the general public, including performance times, restroom locations, transportation options, directions…
Maritime Tradtions Help Great Lakes tradition bearers in presenting their Help Great Lakes tradition bearers in presenting their lives to Festival visitors.
Music Stage Logger Accurately log live musical performances and demonstrations in sound booth. Record performances to DAT tapes.
Operations Assist in the operations office just before and during the festival. Job tasks could range from phone or radio duty to running supplies to stages. Must be able to walk from one end of the site to the other in 10 minutes or less, and be able to lift 25 lbs. Experience with golf cart driving and hand tool use a plus.
Sales, CD and Merchandise Assist with performer CD sales and sales of shirts and other Festival souvenirs.
Seniors on the Go Drive a golf cart around the Festival Site to help move people of all ages with mobility challenges. Must have valid Drivers License.
Set-up/Take down crew Volunteers will set up and/or take down Site signs, Tent signs, Banners (will use ladders and hand tools).
Site Coordinator Oversee stage areas and resolve issues such as seating, crowd control, and lost children.
Transportation Transport performers, staff and equipment to music stages. Must be able to safely drive a golf cart.
Volunteer Registration Check-in volunteers prior to each shift at the Marriott Hotel.
